Selly
they walk beside us every day,
unseen, unheard, but always near,
still loved, still missed and very dear ..."
It ´s like it was yesterday, April 1998, I was 13 and as usual I was going to walk dogs in one dog shelter with my best friend Denisa.
That day I got on my leash skinny black-and-tan sweet mixbreed Selly, she was about 7-8 months old, after putting her off leash she just ran a big circle around us,came to me, sat and gave me a paw, in that moment I just knew THAT´S MY DOG, right away I forgot on purebred Swiss white shepherd I planned to buy when summer holidays come...
When I came home, I was so enthusiastically speaking about Selly to my parents who told me "Go there and bring her home", I was over the moon........
From that time on, Selly was my soulmate, sentinel, team-mate, she was just here when I was making all BIG decisions and steps in my life. When I was sad, she felt it and came to lick my face, in winter she played thw role of a sledge dog, she enjoyed all our crazy games and activities, she loved agility, she was with me majority of my life - my faithful shadow.
I made tons of mistakes in her training, but that was altogether big school, she wasn´t perfect, but she was the best companion I could have ever wished for. She was a true member of our family, so loyal, she was always on task to protect and take care of us. I was always so proud of my Selly.
15 years passed in a moment. Even when you know, that´s time to say goodbye, you are never ready for the loss of beloved being.
My dear Selly, you was so brave till the end, now you don´t suffer anymore, you was my first own dog, the best first dog I could have ever dreamed of. I already miss you a lot! Knowing you I am pretty sure that you will take care of us from the heaven, rest in piece my angel.
